Meet this episode’s expert

Joining the team to lead Onsite’s Entertainment division, Debbie Carroll is an accomplished executive steeped in the entertainment industry. Carroll has created scalable emotional health solutions in the areas of counseling, addiction recovery, human services, psychiatric care, coaching, and intensive outpatient care.

For more than two decades, she has served as Vice President of Health and Human Services for MusiCares, a charitable partner of the Recording Academy.

As the Vice President of MusiCares® Health & Human Services, Debbie was responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing MusiCares’ programs and services nationally. Under her leadership, MusiCares succeeded in substantially increasing their programs and services from 230 clients and $236,000 distributed in 1998 to over 38,000 clients and more than $28 million dollars distributed during the COVID pandemic. Ten years ago, Carroll was instrumental in launching MusiCares’ first preventative Healthy Essentials Clinic. Since then, the program has expanded to over 500 annual events nationwide that address medical issues, dental and hearing health, emotional health, addiction recovery services, and educational topics of interest to music people.

After nine years of prior experience in the human services field, Debbie joined MusiCares in August of 1998, and worked in various capacities in the healthcare industry, ranging from hospital settings to private practice. During the course of her illustrious career, Carroll was instrumental in developing substance abuse treatment programs in Massachusetts, Colorado, and Georgia.

Debbie currently serves on the ACM Lifting Lives, Harmonium, and Leadership Music Board of Directors and serves on the Cumberland Heights Advisory Board.  She is the past Chairman of ACM Lifting Lives and is currently President-Elect for Leadership Music.  She previously served as a board member of the American Heart Association and Onsite Foundation. She has been honored for the past six years with the Nashville Business Journal’s Women in Music Business Award and was recognized by Pollstar 2020 Live! as an Impact 50 Honoree.

Carroll holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Georgia, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
