In this episode of the Living Centered Podcast, Miles and Lindsey had the honor of sitting down with one of our very own—the incredible Cindy Westcott. Cindy serves as the Senior Clinical Advisor for Onsite’s residential trauma treatment program, Milestones. Together the three discussed what our brains and body go through when faced with adversity, why so many of us have increased levels of stress and anxiety, and how to live more centered and connected than ever before. With over 29 years of experience, Cindy brings her clinical expertise and heart to help us make sense of what we’re experiencing and find a path forward even in the face of trauma.
Meet this episode’s expert
Cindy serves as the Senior Clinical Advisor of Milestones and has over 29 years of experience as a licensed clinical social worker. Her experience includes more than 22 years in private practice as founder of The Psychological Trauma and Wellness Center of Memphis. She has also developed and facilitated inpatient specialty programs for suicide prevention and for the treatment of complicated grief and PTSD for three different hospitals. In addition, Cindy has developed and facilitated intensive outpatient treatment programs for adults and partial hospitalization programs for the treatment of traumatic grief and traumatic stress.
She is a Level 2 EMDR trained clinician and also utilizes other innovative therapies such as Internal Family Systems, Gestalt and Ego State Experiential therapies, EFT, and more to address the acute and long-term effects of childhood and other forms of trauma and abuse. Cindy has spoken locally, regionally, and nationally on topics including cultural diversity, women and empowerment, adult children of alcoholics, eating disorders and trauma, in addition to other topics related to grief and trauma recovery. She has experience as a director of social services and wrote and developed inpatient chemical dependency and codependency treatment programs during the 1990s. She has been a member of 12-step recovery programs since 1995 and enjoys reading, traveling, animal rescue, and writing.
