Episode 104: “Living Centered and Navigating Family Systems”

Featuring Crystal Nero

Family, for many of us, can be complicated. Even the healthiest families have areas of conflict, tension, and opportunities for growth. This week Mickenzie and Lindsey sit down with therapist and Onsite guide, Crystal Nero, to dive into the topic of family systems. Together they explore how our families of origin can shape the relationships we have today, what to do when we need to set boundaries, and how to show up for ourselves within the context of our families and larger communities.

Once upon a time I was a nuclear medicine technologist, and what I learned during those years; we all need to be seen and heard. As humans we are meant to share our stories, and be witnessed. As a technologist I found myself wanting more time with my patients and their families. Some were hurting, and needed someone to talk to; others needed silence, while some needed contact from another. This longing started my path as a therapist and I am so grateful to have this opportunity to walk alongside you as you heal and mend from the past, honoring your present self.

I have worked as a mental health therapist in the prison system in Chicago, wilderness therapy in North Carolina and now own a group practice. I graduated from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS), Trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, EMDR.
